Diversity

WTP is firmly committed to equal opportunity, both by policy and by preference. People from anywhere in the world, people of color, women, disabled people, and GLBT lawyers and staff are all welcome at the firm.

We are proud to count within our ranks many of the region's leading minority lawyers, including the first and only African-American head of the Maryland State Bar Association, a large group of African-American trial lawyers, and the former City Solicitor for Baltimore.  All of our African-American partners are active in the National Bar Association.  Two of our minority partners have received recognition as "Leaders in Law" in Maryland, and many of our minority and female lawyers have received high professional recognition through such sources as Martindale Hubbel's AV rankings, Chambers USA, Leadership in Law, and Best Lawyers in America.

  • Female attorneys and attorneys of color have held positions of leadership in the firm, including service on the Management Committee and Executive Committee and Managing Partners of the Towson and D.C. offices, as well as all of the working committees of the firm.
  • The Hiring Committee for legal recruitment participates in the Minority Clerkship Program administered by the Baltimore City Bar Association and actively engages with a diverse applicant pool, including men and women of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.  The Hiring Committee also participates in the National Black Law Student Association's regional law firm recruitment program, typically held in Washington, D.C.
  • We encourage our attorneys, at all levels, to be members of and active in a wide variety of minority and specialty bar associations.  Several of our attorneys have held significant leadership positions in local and national minority and specialty bar associations.
  • Our policies, including maternity/paternity leave and the opportunity for part-time employment, encourage individual lawyers to make the best decisions for themselves and their families.
  • All applicants for employment and all employees are treated in all respects on the basis of their merit and qualifications, and without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, color, national origin, age, marital status, disability, veteran status or any other status protected by federal, state or local law.
