Many industries, such as health care, nonprofit organizations, and regulated utilities, operate within an entire system of state and federal regulation. Other industries may be generally unregulated, but still need to comply with the broad-reaching regulations that impact employer/employee relations, zoning appeals, exports and imports, environmental hazards, the tax code or SEC disclosure requirements.
