Whiteford, Taylor & Preston provides counsel for two major railroads, CSX Transportation, Inc. and Amtrak, and also for the Maryland Aviation Administration and a number of trucking companies.  We represent our clients in a variety of cases involving FELA acute trauma, repetitive stress and occupational exposure claims, crossing accident, derailment and other third party personal injury claims, Longshore & Harbor Workers' Compensation Act claims, significant contract claims, commercial disputes, regulatory disputes, property damage claims, and other matters.  We also have experience representing short line railroads and the MARC system.  As part of its representation of major railroads, the group's attorneys are active members in the National Association of Railroad Trial Lawyers (NARTC), the pre-eminent railroad defense lawyer organization in the United States, and have given speeches at numerous NARTC meetings.  Furthermore, Whiteford, Taylor & Preston attorneys are called upon for advice as to the impact of proposed state and federal legislation upon railroad operations and claims.
