ANNA KELLY HONORED FOR PRO BONO ADVOCACY FOR DISABLED

June 1, 2009

Baltimore - Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP announced today that Anna Schultz Kelly, a litigator in the firm, was honored by The Arc of Baltimore for her pro bono work in protecting the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities.

In naming her this year's recipient of the James F. Rosner Award for Advocacy, The Arc noted that she had, on behalf of one client, worked for a trial victory, defended it in the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and then doggedly pursued collection in the Circuit Court of the judgment awarded to her client.

Ms. Kelly commented, "Representing any client successfully in court is a joy, but representing disabled clients is particularly rewarding. When you realize that pro bono clients may be some of the most defenseless people in our society, you feel inspired to help."

Ms. Kelly received her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2005, cum laude, and her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University in 2001. She clerked for the Hon. John Grason Turnbull, II, Circuit Court for Baltimore County, before joining the firm in 2006.

She has litigated commercial and insurance cases in Maryland courts, and is active in professional organizations such as the Baltimore County Bar Association's Young Lawyers and Law Day Committees. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the Towson YMCA and on the Development Advisory Committee of the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.

The Managing Partner of the firm, Martin Fletcher, commented, "Anna is a shining example of what every good lawyer aspires to be - an excellent advocate, who is also committed to the profession and her community."
