Andrew J. Terrell Named Educator of the Year by Community Associations Institute

Washington, D.C. - Andrew J. Terrell, a partner and head of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston's Washington, D.C. and Virginia offices, was recently honored as Educator of the Year by the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (WMCCAI).  Terrell was presented with the award at WMCCAI's Red Carpet Affair-themed dinner emceed by broadcast journalist J.C. Hayward on November 3, 2007, at Chantilly's Marriott Westfields Washington Dulles. 

The Educator of the Year Award is presented to the individual who excels in furthering CAI's mission of education through course development and instruction, as well as written materials and electronic communication.  As co-chair of the WMCCAI's Publications Committee, Terrell educates community association members and professionals by contributing articles to both WMCCAI's Quorum and CAI's Common Ground magazines, and by serving as a course facilitator for WMCCAI's frequent educational events. 

With over 15 years of legal experience, Terrell's practice includes business, real estate, and community association litigation as well as providing general business representation to community associations throughout the District of Columbia and Virginia.  Terrell is a member of the American Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar, Alexandria Bar, and Virginia Bar.  Last year, Terrell was recognized by the WMCCAI with a Rising Star Award for his extensive volunteer efforts. 

The Washington Metropolitan Chapter Community Associations Institute ( serves the educational, business, and networking needs of the community association industry in 20 cities/counties in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Members include professional managers and community volunteers from condominium, cooperative, and homeowner associations as well as those who provide products and services to associations. The Washington Metropolitan Chapter has more than 2,800 members including 400 businesses, 200 professional managers from 100 management companies, and community volunteers from more than 800 associations representing 260,000 households. The Chapter is one of 57 Community Associations Institute (CAI) chapters and is the largest in the nation.
