Daily Record Names Kevin Hroblak One of 2011’s “VIPs - Successful by 40”

Date: September 27, 2011

Baltimore – On September 26, 2011, The Daily Record announced the current “VIP - Successful by 40” winners.  Kevin G. Hroblak, a partner in the Bankruptcy and Business Litigation practices at the firm, was selected for his professional and civic accomplishments.

The firm's chairman, Martin Fletcher, noted, “Kevin is an excellent lawyer, a great colleague, and someone whom the entire firm respects and likes.  Kevin's career and community involvement epitomize the Successful by 40 standards in that he has attained professional successes beyond his years; he has made significant improvements to Baltimore elderly and disabled homeowners through his work with Rebuilding Together Baltimore; and his tremendous achievements in the law profession have been recognized by his peers and professional research groups.”

At just 38 years old, Kevin was elected by the partners of Whiteford Taylor & Preston to the position of co-chair of the firm's Litigation Services Department.  The Litigation Department includes more than half the firm's lawyers and spans all of the firm's separate litigation practices. Of the four department co-chairs (two for each department), Kevin is by the far the youngest, and is believed to be the youngest department head in the firm's history.

Kevin's practice spans two areas: business litigation and bankruptcy.  He has developed a national practice representing companies, trustees, and other bankruptcy-related entities in the prosecution of director and officer liability claims, auditing malpractice claims, and suits involving business fraud and Ponzi schemes.  His work has resulted in scores of settlements that reimburse companies, their shareholders, and their creditors for the corporate greed and mismanagement of executives, directors and advisors.

Kevin has been ranked by Legal 500 among the “leading bankruptcy lawyers in the Northeast region of the United States” and has been consistently recognized by the Super Lawyers organization.  Kevin is also listed in the 2010, 2011, and 2012 Benchmark Guide to America's Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys in the United States and was selected by his peers as one of the “Best Bankruptcy Lawyers in Maryland” by LegalForce.  He has also obtained the AV-Preeminent peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has spoken at several seminars on bankruptcy director and officer liability.

In addition to his busy practice, Kevin was also recognized for his involvement in bettering his community.  In 1999, Kevin led the firm's involvement with Christmas in April, which was later renamed Rebuilding Together Baltimore (RTB).  RTB is a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to helping low-income homeowners in Baltimore City and Baltimore County through home renovation and repair.  Kevin has served as a House and Skill Captain for the WTP sponsored house every year since 1999 to the present, leading scores of volunteers in the rehabilitation and repair of homes in Baltimore City.

In 2007, he was elected to serve on RTB's Board of Directors, and continues to serve on the Board while also holding the officer position of Treasurer and Chairman of the organization's Finance Committee.  He participates in fundraising efforts, governance, and planning, in addition to volunteering on Rebuilding Day.  RTB's impact is far reaching in the community, and Kevin has an active and vital role in its success and providing of services to Baltimore homeowners.

In addition to his commitment to RTB, Kevin has been a Board Member of his civic association and has represented pro bono clients in bankruptcy and other matters.

While there are many successful lawyers in the Baltimore region, Kevin has demonstrated that, through hard work, dedication, and drive, success can be attained prior to age forty.  And for Kevin, success includes numerous professional accomplishments in the law, respect and leadership within Whiteford Taylor and Preston, and furthering the community in which he works through charitable giving and efforts.
