Erek Barron is an attorney and public servant with experience at virtually every level of government. At Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, he practices general litigation and counsels small businesses and nonprofits. Erek also serves as a leader in the legal profession, the Democratic party, and as a leading advocate on access to justice and civil rights issues.
Much of Erek's career has been spent prosecuting a wide variety of domestic and international law enforcement issues including economic crimes, violent offenses, criminal conspiracies and gang cases. In his spare time, Erek serves the public through various national and local bar organizations and nonprofit boards.
Among Erek's extensive background and accomplishments, he was recently elected President-Elect of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, a legal organization of primarily African American attorneys living and/or working in Prince George's and Montgomery counties. And, for the second consecutive year, Erek has been listed among the Super Lawyers and Rising Stars in both Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Erek is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, The George Washington University Law School and received a Master of Laws from the Georgetown University Law School. He lives in Mitchellville, Maryland with his wife, Taria Barron, who is also an attorney. They worship at Reid Temple, AME in Glenn Dale, Maryland.
