Harry S. Johnson, Prominent WTP Litigator and Former President of the MSBA, to Receive Charles H. Dorsey Award

Baltimore - Whiteford, Taylor & Preston is delighted to announce that Harry S. Johnson, chair of the firm's Specialty Litigation section, will be this year's recipient of the Charles H. Dorsey, Jr. Award at the Bar Association of Baltimore City's Awards Banquet on November 24, 2008.  The Charles H. Dorsey, Jr. Award recognizes distinguished members of the Bar whose careers reflect a commitment to the legal profession and service to the disadvantaged. 

A partner in Whiteford, Taylor & Preston's Baltimore office, Johnson focuses his legal practice primarily on complex litigation.  He serves as the Fourth Circuit representative on the American Bar Association's (ABA) Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, and he is a member of the Maryland State Bar delegation in the ABA's House of Delegates.  A former President and Treasurer of the Maryland State Bar Association, Johnson is a member of the Maryland State Bar Foundation's Board of Directors, the Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure for the Court of Appeals of Maryland, the Eighth Judicial Circuit Character Committee, and the Baltimore City Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. 

Locally, Johnson also serves on the boards of CENTERSTAGE, the Baltimore Community Foundation, and GBMC HealthCare, Inc. (where he serves as a Vice Chair), among others.  He has been listed among the Best Lawyers in America, Black Enterprise Magazine's Top Black Lawyers in America, the Maryland Daily Record's Leadership in Law program, and Maryland's Super Lawyers
