Herman Rosenthal to Lead WTP Business Services Department

Whiteford Taylor & Preston L.L.P. is pleased to announce that Herman Rosenthal has been elected to chair the firm's business services department.

The department comprises over 65 attorneys who provide a comprehensive array of services to clients in the areas of employee benefits, bankruptcy, corporate/securities, labor, health care, intellectual property, government affairs, estates and trusts, real estate and tax. Mr. Rosenthal will direct the strategic growth of the group, as well as manage the department's administrative operations.

Mr. Rosenthal, who is also head of the firm's tax section, has over 25 years' experience providing clients with tax planning advice in transactions, representing nonprofit organizations, particularly retirement communities, and serving as bond and borrower's counsel in connection with tax-exempt bond financings. He also represents clients in federal and state tax controversy matters and litigation, handling some of the most significant cases in the region.

Mr. Rosenthal is a past director of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and past chair of the Section of Taxation of the Maryland State Bar Association. He has served as chair of the Tax Subcommittee of the Legal Committee of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and is a member of the Tax Committee of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. He is a frequent speaker and a co-editor of Maryland Taxes, a treatise published by the Maryland Institute For Continuing Professional Education For Lawyers. Mr. Rosenthal received his J.D., M.A. in Public Policy Analysis, and B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
