M. Trent Zivkovich Joins Whiteford, Taylor & Preston

Baltimore, Md. - Whiteford, Taylor & Preston is delighted to announce that M. Trent Zivkovich has joined the firm as Counsel in the Baltimore office.

Trent is an environmental lawyer and joins the firm's Real Estate and Environmental practices. He will also become part of our Green Building and Clean Energy industry groups.

He has a diverse range of experience counseling clients in environmental, natural resources and renewable energy law matters. He assists clients in all manner of environmental regulatory compliance and permitting requirements, including those required for real estate developments, small businesses, commercial operations and industrial facilities. Trent represents clients in response to government investigations and enforcement actions under Superfund, RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and equivalent state laws. He has represented both buyers and sellers in environmental due diligence efforts for complex transactions involving local, national and international facilities. Trent advises clients in construction and land development permitting and compliance issues including local, state and federal stormwater, erosion and sediment control and wetlands requirements. He also provides counsel to individuals and businesses engaged in litigation in state and federal courts involving environmental matters.

Prior to beginning his legal career, Trent spent ten years working for national environmental consulting firms and a regional construction and land development firm, gaining first-hand experience with the issues his clients face every day. He is currently Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association's Environmental Law Section and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Coastal Conservation Association, in addition to chairing the Government Relations Committee of its Maryland chapter.

He is a licensed professional geologist and received his law degree from the University of Baltimore in 2006 and his bachelor's degree from Sewanee: The University of the South in 1995. He is admitted to practice in Maryland.
