Ryan and Buxbaum Appointed to Whiteford, Taylor & Preston Leadership Roles

Baltimore – Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, LLP (WTP) is delighted to announce that William F. Ryan, Jr., has been selected to chair the firm's Litigation Department, and Edward M. Buxbaum has been appointed to lead the firm's Business Litigation section, effective immediately. 

Ryan, a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, has been an active trial attorney for more than 25 years specializing in complex business litigation, and is a partner at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston.  Recognized repeatedly as one of The Best Lawyers in America by Woodward Law, he is listed among America's Leading Lawyers by Chambers and Partners, Baltimore SmartCEO's Legal Elite, and Maryland's Super Lawyers.  In addition to being admitted to practice before the Maryland courts, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second and Fourth Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court, Ryan has represented clients in various state and federal courts, including courts in Alabama, California, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.  Ryan is currently a member of the firm's Executive Committee, on which he previously served from 1988 to 1998.  He is also a past head of the firm's Litigation Department. 

Buxbaum, a partner at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, possesses over 20 years of experience as a trial lawyer.  From taking over 30 jury trials to verdict to appearing extensively in Maryland Appellate Courts and before the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, Buxbaum's practice includes: complex civil litigation, professional malpractice litigation (both plaintiffs and defendants), products liability litigation, transportation litigation and insurance coverage litigation.  He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Maryland State Bar Association, Maryland Defense Trial Counsel, District of Columbia Bar Association, Bar Association of Baltimore City's Judicial Administration Committee and Judicial Selections Committee, and Baltimore County Bar Association.
