Whiteford, Taylor & Preston Elects New Partners

Baltimore, MD - Whiteford, Taylor & Preston L.L.P. is pleased to announce that four attorneys have been elected partners. The firm congratulates Jesse Cox, Melissa L. Menkel, Karen H. Moore, and Valerie L. Tetro.

Jesse Cox has been elected partner in the Bankruptcy Department. Mr. Cox received his J.D. in 1992, L.L.M. in 1993, and his M.B.A., with honors, in 1987 from the University of Baltimore. He graduated from Loyola College with a B.A. in 1975 and became a CPA in 1986. He is a member of the Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Maryland State Bar Associations. Mr. Cox also is a member of the Maryland Trial Lawyers and Bankruptcy Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the United States Supreme Court. He is resident in the Baltimore Office.

Melissa L. Menkel has been elected partner in the Labor and Employment Department. She provides advice and counsel to public and private employers on all phases of Employment Law. She received her J.D., with honors, from the University of Maryland Law School in 1994 and graduated with a B.A., cum laude, from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1991. She is an active member of the Maryland State Bar Association and is a member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee of the American Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in Maryland, West Virginia, and The District of Columbia. Ms. Menkel is resident in the Baltimore Office.

Karen H. Moore has been elected partner in the Bankruptcy Department. Ms. Moore received her J.D. in 1983 from De Paul University College of Law and her B.A. from Trinity College in 1978. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Maryland Bankruptcy Association, and the Baltimore Women’s Bar Association. Ms. Moore was the Assistant U.S. Trustee in Baltimore from 1992-2001. She is admitted to practice in Maryland and Illinois. Ms. Moore is resident in the Baltimore Office.

Valerie L. Tetro has been elected partner in the Business Litigation Department. Ms. Tetro received her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law in 1985, her L.L.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986, and her B.A. from Connecticut College in 1982. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Ms. Tetro is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She is resident in the Washington, D.C. Office.
