WTP Attorneys Appointed to Franklin Square Hospital Positions

October 24, 2006 – Baltimore – Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP (WTP) is delighted to announce that G. Scott Barhight was elected as Chair of the Franklin Square Hospital Foundation's Board of Directors, and John Gontrum was voted Chair of the Board of Franklin Square Hospital.

Gontrum has been a member of the Franklin Square Hospital Board of Directors since 2000, and is a member of MedStar Health Inc.'s Finance Committee.  Past President of the Baltimore County Bar Association and Bar Foundation, Gontrum is also a Fellow of the Maryland State Bar Foundation and a Member of the Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association.  He holds leadership positions within the following groups:, the Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce, the Eastside Community Development Corporation, and the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee and was Co-Chairman of the Essex-Middle River Community Plan and UDAT Study.  Additionally, Gontrum is a former chair of the Boy Scouts of America in the Chesapeake District and a former member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the YMCA of Central Maryland. 

Barhight has been a member of the Foundation Board of Directors since 2002 and presently serves as Treasurer/Secretary of the Hospital's Board of Directors.  Within the Baltimore community, Barhight also serves on the boards of the Bradford Bank, the Wyman Park Federal Savings Bank, and the Baltimore Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks.  He is a current member of, and has held leadership positions in, the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, the Homebuilders Association of Maryland, Baltimore County, and the Hillside at Seminary Homeowner's Association.  Barhight is also listed in 2006's The Best Lawyers in America.
