International Lawyer Joins WTP

Washington - Dorothy Deng is joining the Washington, D.C. office of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston as an associate, the firm announced today.

Ms. Deng, who was born in Maryland and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, received her LL.B from the National Taiwan University in 2003 and her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law at Penn State in 2006. She is fluent in written and spoken Mandarin, and interned in the international practices of both Taiwanese and U.S. firms before joining WTP as a contract attorney in the fall of 2006. She is a resident of Falls Church, Virginia.

Ms. Deng's practice is focused on insurance regarding claims of defamation, invasion of privacy and copyright violations brought against newspapers throughout the U.S., the Caribbean, including Jamaica, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Barbados and Puerto Rico, and Canada.

She is also active in the Global practice at the firm where her fluency in Mandarin, and Taiwanese law degree are valuable resources for the firm's international clients.

Ms. Deng, who is admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., is the sixth new attorney to join the firm's D.C. and Northern Virginia offices since January 1st.
