Peter D. Guattery, Immigration and Employment Attorney, to Chair MSBA's Labor and Employment Section Council Section
Baltimore - Whiteford, Taylor & Preston is delighted to announce that Peter D. Guattery was recently appointed chair of the Maryland State Bar Association's (MSBA) Labor and Employment Section Council for a two-year term. Guattery, a member of the council since 1995, was made Chair-elect in 2006. As chair, he will lead the council in planning educational seminars and activities in conjunction with the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers (MICPEL).
A partner in the firm's Labor and Employment, Nonprofit Organizations, Global and Health Care sections, Guattery represents public and private employers in all aspects of their employment relationships. He has extensive experience in counseling clients in the hiring of foreign nationals and helping clients develop strategies for meeting their business goals. Additionally, Guattery has represented U.S. and foreign corporations and individuals in immigration-related matters, including NAFTA, international inter-company transferees, treating trader/investors, national interest waivers and other aspects relating to the hiring of foreign nationals. An AV Peer Review Rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Guattery has been listed among Chambers and Partners' America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2005-2007 editions), and Maryland's Super Lawyers (2008). In addition to his MSBA membership, he is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association's Labor Law Section.
