Victory in DC Court of Appeals

Date: January 30, 2013

Washington, DC, and Bethesda, MD -- Erek L. Barron, Counsel in the firm's Bethesda office, received a victory in the D.C. Court of Appeals in an opinion to be published. The issue arose out of the trial court's instructions, after a breakdown in a poll, to a jury that subsequently returned five criminal convictions.  The Court reversed and remanded the case for a new trial.

The text of the opinion can be read here.

Mr. Barron is a litigator with a dual focus on white collar criminal defense and business litigation.  He is a former Assistant State's Attorney for Prince George's County and Baltimore City, former Counsel and Policy Advisor to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and the Hon. Joseph R. Biden, Jr., and served as a member of President Obama's Transition Team for Justice and Civil Rights.

He currently co-chairs two American Bar Association committees, on Criminal Litigation and the CJS Appeals and Habeas Committee, and is active in the Criminal Justice Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association.
