Whiteford Expands Healthcare Practice with Three Richmond Attorneys

Eric Atkinson is a seasoned healthcare attorney who represents healthcare providers in all phases of regulatory, civil and criminal litigation. He regularly advises hospitals, long term care facilities, physicians, specialty practices, home health agencies, physical therapists, mental health practitioners and other providers on healthcare related issues, including government investigations, corporate compliance, fraud and abuse, and provider billing and reimbursement. He routinely assists with due diligence for compliance matters, self-reporting and payor appeals in provider transactions.
 
Rachel Carey is an experienced healthcare attorney with a practice that spans the healthcare landscape. She has a particular focus on regulatory compliance, reimbursement and related healthcare issues. She brings both her legal experience and her experience working at managed-care organizations to provide clients with insights on how to develop best reimbursement practices. She works regularly with healthcare providers of all sizes and smaller practice groups, assisting with everything from medical billing to researching state waiver plans and long-term services and supports.
 
An associate in Whiteford’s Business Litigation Group, Whit Long is an experienced litigator who has represented clients on healthcare matters throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.  His experience includes complex commercial litigation, professional liability defense and employment law. He has also represented veterans and military members nationwide in cases brought under The Federal Tort Claims Act against the Department of Veterans Affairs and other federally owned hospitals.
