Four Whiteford Lawyers on Benchmark Litigation 40 & Under Hotlist

Four lawyers from Whiteford, Taylor & Preston have been named to the Benchmark Litigation 40 & Under Hotlist:

All are identified by peers and clients as being among the most notable up-and-coming litigation attorneys in the United States. They are four of eight total Maryland lawyers to have been selected for this national ranking. 

Todd Brooks. Mr. Brooks represents a broad range of clients as a commercial litigator and the Co-Chair of the firm's Business Reorganizations, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Litigation practice group. A partner in the Baltimore office, he regularly serves clients in business disputes within the travel, healthcare, technology and construction sectors. Mr. Brooks also routinely represents debtors, creditors, trustees and receivers in litigation matters arising out of insolvency proceedings pending before federal and state courts throughout the country. In addition, Mr. Brooks has a large appellate practice, successfully arguing dozens of appeals over his career. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Bar Institute and the American Bar Association. 

Aaron Casagrande. A partner in the Baltimore office and a Co-Chair of the firm's Electronic Discovery Practice Group, Mr. Casagrande's practice includes a broad array of business litigation matters, including representing companies, creditors, and trustees in connection with investigations and litigation involving director and officer liability claims, mismanagement and business fraud, government investigations, antitrust matters, land use litigation, and other business-related claims. He also represents companies, creditors, and trustees in financial restructurings and bankruptcy proceedings. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland and the American Bankruptcy Institute. 

Cara Murray.  A partner in the Baltimore office, Ms. Murray is a litigator focusing on commercial and bankruptcy litigation and corporate governance, including representation of companies, local governments, trustees, directors and officers and individuals. Her litigation experience is wide ranging and has included pursuing claims and assets on behalf of litigation or liquidation trustees; prosecuting a breach of a significant coal mining lease; prosecuting breaches of restrictive covenants in commercial leases; prosecuting and defending breaches of fiduciary duty; and defending local governments against land use claims. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

David Stevens. A partner in the Baltimore office, Mr. Stevens regularly represents employers in state and federal courts in litigation involving wage and hour claims, Title VII and state anti-discrimination laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, covenants not to compete, as well as other federal and state employment claims. Mr. Stevens also represents employers in connection with union organizing campaigns and in unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). He is a member of the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section and the Employers Counsel Network.
