New Pro Bono Partner Named

Date: April 27, 2007

Baltimore, MD - Whiteford, Taylor & Preston (WTP) is pleased to announce that Edwin G. Fee, Jr. has been appointed as the firm's new Pro Bono Partner and will replace James F. Rosner, who has held the post for three years.

"I look forward to continuing what Jim has started at the firm. He's been responsible for a tremendous increase in WTP's pro bono activities and has been instrumental in helping other legal professionals discover the personal rewards of community service," commented Fee.  "Luckily, he is staying on as a member of our Pro Bono Committee; so I will have the benefit of his experience and vision."

Like his predecessor, Fee will devote a substantial portion of his time to managing the firm's pro bono activities.  In addition to mentoring other attorneys beginning their pro bono careers, he will coordinate with WTP's partnering agencies to provide legal counsel, and he will handle his own pro bono matters.

A Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, Fee is a partner in WTP's Estates and Trust group.  Fee will serve on the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) Board of Governors from 2007-2009, and he currently is Chair of the MSBA Estate and Trust Law Section. Fee is a Life Fellow of both the Maryland Bar Foundation and the Baltimore Bar Foundation.  He is also a member of The Associated Planned Giving Roundtable, the Baltimore Community Foundation Professional Advisors Council, the Baltimore Estate Planning Council, the Chesapeake Planned Giving Council, the Harriet Lane Family Council (of the Johns Hopkins Children's Center), The Park School of Baltimore Planned Giving Advisory Committee, and St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation Planned Giving Advisory Committee.  He received his J.D. in 1990 and his LL.M. in Taxation in 1991 from New York University School of Law, and his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1987.

Rosner, a partner in WTP's Towson office, will return fulltime to handling medical malpractice cases for the firm's growing litigation department.  His national and regional clients include: hospitals, physicians, dentists, HMOs, physician practice groups, nurses, mental health counselors, nursing homes, and continuing care retirement communities.
