New 2023 Partners Elected at Whiteford Taylor & Preston

Whiteford, Taylor & Preston is pleased to announce that James R. Jeffcoat, Kenneth J. Lund, Aaron A. Nichols and Kaitlin R. Zarro have been named Partners of the firm, effective January 1, 2023.

James Jeffcoat focuses his practice on civil litigation in federal and state courts, including admiralty and maritime disputes and personal injury litigation. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Jeffcoat served as an officer on U.S. flag merchant ships on coastwise and foreign voyages.  He currently holds a 1600 ton Master’s License. The Maryland Port Director of the South Eastern Admiralty Law Institute, and a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the Propeller Club of Baltimore, and the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots, he is based in the firm’s Baltimore, Maryland, office.

Ken Lund has extensive experience in delivering value-additive legal services to the mining, energy and construction industries, first as a partner with a global law firm and then as General Counsel for three international companies, including a publicly traded company.  As a member of the firm’s Business Solutions, Restructuring and Financial Litigation practice, clients retain Ken for his ability to translate broad and substantive legal knowledge into practical, business-oriented solutions to complex commercial, legal and restructuring matters. Ken most recently represented the general contractor in the Chapter 11 filing of the developer of a contemplated headquarters and practice facility for the Carolina Panthers NFL franchise.  He has also served on court-appointed committees and is based in the firm’s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, office.

Aaron Nichols represents businesses nationwide in a broad range of complex business disputes, including cases involving antitrust and trade regulation, securities, intellectual property, class actions, and insurance coverage and defense.  He serves as outside general counsel to several businesses locally and nationally.  Mr. Nichols sits on the Firm’s e-discovery committee and is a committee member of Fort Meade Alliance Rising Stars and an organizing member of the BVC (Baltimore Venture Capital). He is based in the firm’s Baltimore, Maryland, office.

Kaitlin Zarro handles real estate and corporate transactions. She represents commercial real estate developers and commercial property owners in all aspects of commercial real estate including leasing, sales and acquisitions across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region.  A member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Baltimore, the Maryland Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland, and the Bar Association of Baltimore City, she is based in the firm’s Baltimore, Maryland, office.
